Its only right that we start with the biggest of the social networks, Facebook.  Of course most people are on Facebook and with well over 1 billion active users a month, it offers a massive amount of potential customers for your business to reach. Since Facebook consistently ranks in the top most visited websites in the world, it is also a great way for businesses to interact with their customers. Facebook also has a very sophisticated advertising platform that allows you to target customers that have an interest in your type of business which in turn will allow you to generate new leads.

Instagram

Instagram is probably the fastest growing social media platform currently, especially among younger audiences. The platform relies mainly on photographs and videos for its content, which is what makes it perfect especially if you have a visual business. If you’re a hairdresser, sell food or have a clothing business, then Instagram is the perfect place to show off your latest designs. The platform’s young audience creates the perfect environment to target this much sought after demographic. Instagram is also owned, by Facebook which gives valuable opportunities for cross advertising, allowing you to reach a wider audience.

Twitter

Twitter like Facebook is also a platform that is a great for most businesses. The trending feature of the platform can prove extremely valuable because it not only allows you to keep track of the latest news in your industry but it also allows you to be a part of it. By joining in the conversation and having your say, you get an opportunity to generate awareness for your brand. The immediacy of the platform also allows you to provide your customers with real time information, such as sales, offers, latest products or updates on any technical issues you may be experiencing. Another useful feature of Twitter is their use of hashtags, adding the relevant tags to your posts allows potential new customers to discover your business.
